HORSEBACK RIDING: THE MITRE PENINSULA EXPEDITION

SEASON: NOVEMBER - MARCH To keep in mind: • The journey includes 6 to 7 hours of riding with several stops and an average distance of 20/30 km (12/18 miles) per day. • Intermediate difficulty. Basic knowledge of horse riding, a good physical, and health conditions are needed. • The site is a completely isolated place without conventional sanitary services. • Consult the necessary and suggested clothing and supplies. • The program may be modified because of force majeure or security reasons, or to make the most of our time. Day 1 Ushuaia. Arrival at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Informative talk about the expedition. Day 2 Ushuaia / Puesto La Chaira. B L D We head for Estancia Maria Luisa, dedicated to cattle raising and logging, from where we start the horseback ride to Puesto La Chaira. Overnight in a tent. Day 3 Puesto La Chaira / Puesto Río Bueno. B L D We start the first long riding trail and on the way, visit some shipwrecks, such as the curious "Barca", a very old wooden boat, buried by centuries of sand. Day 4 Puesto Río Bueno / Estancia Policarpo. B L D Today we wade across the Buenos and Policarpo rivers, crossing several peat bogs and on the way to the estancia, we go through the wreck "Duquesa de Albania" (Albania’s Durchess). Before arriving at the estancia, we see the "Falsa" cove and the old buildings of the estancia that was abandoned in the 1960s and declared a National Historic Landmark. Day 5 Estancia Policarpo / Bahía Thetis. B L D The journey takes us through peat bogs that force us to dismount several times and, weather permitting; appreciate the mythical and inaccessible Estados Island, in those land Jules Verne set his famous novel "The Lighthouse at the End of the World". We arrive at Bahía Thetis, a former sea lions factory where they used to slaughter them for their leather and fat. Day 6 Bahía Thetis. B L D Free day in which we propose a long and tiring walk to the Cape San Diego’s Lighthouse to enjoy a 360-degree view of the South Atlantic Ocean, Strait of Le Maire, De Los Estados Island and beginning of the Beagle Channel. Once at the lighthouse, we share lunch at the edge of the Strait of Le Maire. Day 7 Bahía Thetis. B L D Free day to take short walks and discover the real End of the World. Day 8 Bahía Thetis / Estancia Policarpo. B L D Day to go back to Estancia Policarpo. Day 9 Estancia Policarpo / Puesto Río Bueno. B L D We begin the ride towards the Policarpo River while enjoying some galloping moments. Lunch in the old of hull of the "Duquesa de Albania" (Albania’s Durchess) and return to the Puesto. Day 10 Puesto Río Bueno / Puesto La Chaira. B L D Time to explore the surroundings of Puesto Río Bueno and then start walking through the Cape Leticia. Arrival at the Puesto and farewell dinner. Day 11 Puesto La Chaira / Ushuaia. B L We return to Estancia María Luisa. There we unsaddle and undertake the return to Ushuaia. Transfer to the airport. Day 12 Ushuaia. B At the estimated time, transfer to the airport to board your flight.
